Daniel Ward
Daniel was General Counsel to Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Senior Adviser to Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
He helped Morrison and Turnbull navigate many of the Australian Government’s most significant challenges, including novel anti-discrimination legislation and a range of amendments to federal immigration, privacy, electoral and national security laws.
Daniel also served in the office of the Australian Attorney-General, in which capacity he was widely credited for devising the constitutional means to hold Australia’s nationwide plebiscite on same-sex marriage, without requiring the passage of legislation.
Daniel is now a barrister at Sydney’s Sixth Floor Selborne Wentworth Chambers. Prior to coming to the Bar, he was a Special Counsel in the Sydney office of Norton Rose Fulbright, working in the federal government and risk advisory practices.
Daniel has a BCL (Distinction) from Oxford University and university medals in Law and Arts from Sydney University.
